Hey guys welcome to not another anxiety show I'm your host Kelly Walker and today it's just me sharing a simple takeaway for those discouraged days those days where we're feeling extra anxious defeated hopeless or exhausted. So. So here is the simple takeaway given this discouraged day. What is 1 small thing that you're able to do easily within your reach that is an alignment with your values with what you enjoy with a life. You want to live. When I think back to the hardest days of anxiety the days when I couldn't leave the house and was having multiple panic attacks a day I was very consumed and very limited. But when I acknowledged that anxiety was my current reality as painful as that was and something that I was also. Totally working through I was able to start taking small steps toward a meaningful life for me so on a really hard day on a really anxious day on a really exhausted day on a really discouraged day I would move my body. Doing 20 minutes of yoga moving. My body was really important to me. So while I couldn't do that intense spin workout or martial arts workout I was able to do and benefit from 20 minutes of some gentle yoga or.

If I couldn't go to the grocery store I'd have my husband pick up some ingredients on the way home from work to try a new recipe for dinner and while I didn't have a lot to give because I was so busy surviving you know ten panic attacks a day will do that I was able to show my husband I still cared and that. You know I knew he was still in the room. Um by making him a cup of coffee I know these actions seem small. They were definitely way smaller than how I wanted to be living my life at the moment but they were a within my reach and B in alignment with my values.

Here's the thing even seemingly small steps toward the life. You want to live toward what you care about or value in spite of a discouraged day still cultivates self-efficacy the belief the knowing the confidence in yourself to take on challenges and hard things. We can do hard things so you can see why cultivating this even in small ways can support us as we start stretching and challenging ourselves more and more as we're working through anxiety and learning new skills and putting ourselves out there. Even on a discouraged day we can move toward our values in small simple ways that continue to grow that self-efficacy discouraged days aren't necessarily a complete loss and sometimes we need the slow low energy. We need the breather that a discouraged day can bring. It's really bad. Really valuable for nourishing a tapped nervous system. So just as a reminder. The takeaway is given this discouraged day. What is 1 small thing that you're able to do easily within your reach that is an alignment with your values. The things you enjoy the things you care about. Things that fill your cup.
